scott and stiles met the first day of med school and have been inseparable ever since. so, when they’re both admitted to sacred heart training hospital in beacon hills california— scott as a surgical intern and stiles as a medical intern— they’re ready to take the world by storm.

on his first day as a surgical intern, scott falls in love with a pretty (but insecure) medical intern named allison. she’s got ambition, but she’s unsure of herself.  she’s a little clumsy with scott’s feelings off the bat, but they enter into a relationship against the odds. making their lives difficult— at first— is senior attending physician dr. lydia martin. she’s brilliant but hates every day she spends in the hospital because her healthcare politics put her in opposition with the higher ups. cynical and prone to chewing interns out and humiliating them publicly, the only match for lydia is her estranged husband, jackson whittemore, who is a hot mess of hair product, alcohol, and sass.

as for stiles, he finds love with the surly head of the nursing staff: derek. at first, stiles falls over himself trying to woo derek into a sexual relationship. and, though it takes time, he eventually wears derek down, and the two begin a relationship. what stiles thought would be another short-lived affair becomes love without him realizing it. the stress of commitment and the strength of his feelings for derek put the two under strain time and time again until, eventually, they learn how to communicate through their manpain.

and everyone gets their happily ever after—

— even the mysterious janitor, peter, who has a small army of stuffed wolves that he keeps in his garage (but we don’t talk about that).
